Staff Therapist for Intensive Outpatient Treatment Center for College Students

Position Overview
You will play a critical role in the delivery of high-quality clinical services to clients with mental health and addiction disorders in an intensive outpatient treatment setting. The ideal candidate will have a desire and passion to be part of a dynamic team working together to build the premier behavioral health company that meets the unique needs of college students and their families.Duties include, coordinating care with other treatment providers, crisis management, attending staff and treatment planning meetings, and completing appropriate documentation of therapy sessions.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical Service
- Provide the highest quality clinical services, both in person and via telehealth, to young adults with mental health and addiction disorders
- Meet directly with clients to determine their clinical needs, including conducting assessments, providing individual, family and group psychotherapy, treatment planning and discharge planning
- Utilize outcomes measures and client satisfaction surveys to monitor progress and engagement
- Complete documentation in a timely manner
- Participate in utilization reviews for your caseload
- Consult with treatment team to ensure collaborative conceptualization and treatment plans
- Engage family members when appropriate to enhance client recovery
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director and other case management colleagues to refer students out to higher levels of care (as needed)Client Engagement
- Proactively ensure that clients are assigned to the appropriate level of treatment and interventions, and monitor attendance and engagement on a daily basis
- Utilize supervision, collaboration and training as necessary to continue to provide the highest quality and level of student care and engagement
- Evaluate results from client satisfaction surveys in order to recommend continuous improvement with student engagement
Compliance
- Consistently maintain professional standards regarding client rights and demonstrate adherence tHIPAA and all local, State and Federal laws and ethical guidelines
- Attend all staff trainings and Haven company meetings to increase understanding of company priorities and standards
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling or Social Work. Licensed or license-eligible in the state of California as a Ph.D., PsyD, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC
- Experience working with young adults in an addiction treatment and mental health setting
- Working knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for addiction, mental health and co-occurring disorders, including CBT, DBT and MI, as well as 12-step and other recovery programs
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and client documentation
- Ability to work evenings and weekends for therapy groups, program outings and gatherings
- Understanding of ICD-10 and DSM V
Position Details
- Compensation: $66,000-$85,000 annualized salary per year
- Must be able to work three or more days per week,
- Monday-Saturday
- Full-time and Part-time positions are available
- Healthcare stipend provided (Full-time only)
- Paid PTO/Vacation based on a minimum average of 20 hours/week
Additional Requirements
Environments Demands and Exposures to Hazards: (OSHA Level - II). Normal work routine involves exposure to blood, body fluid, tissues, but employment may require some unplanned, Category I activities.

The ideal candidate will have a desire and passion to build the premier behavioral health company that meets the unique needs of college students and their families.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to our multidisciplinary team, including licensed and unlicensed therapists and counselors, practicum students, and support staff
- Collaborate with Senior Clinical Director, Medical Director and other team members to design, implement, and monitor clinical treatment programs and interventions that align with The Haven’s mission and values
- Lead the weekly treatment team meeting and participate in the weekly operations meeting led by The Haven Operations team
- Stay current with emerging research in the fields of addiction and mental health treatment, and integrate new knowledge and best practices into The Haven’s programs
- Supervise admissions, ongoing treatment plans and discharges for all clients
- Perform intake assessments and carry a small caseload of clients
- Collaborate and consult with university partners
Staff Development and Training
- Supervise and support the clinical staff in their day-to-day duties, ensuring they adhere to best practices and deliver client-centered care
- Provide clinical supervision and oversight for therapists, counselors and practicum students
- Collaborate with Senior Clinical Director on staff training needs
- Model a culture for The Haven Clinical Community based on collaboration, ownership and accountability, where direct feedback is shared and embraced
- Attract, retain and motivate a diverse clinical staff with opportunities for advancement
Haven Operations
- Collaborate with The Haven Operations team to ensure seamless administrative functions including billing, scheduling and EMR documentation and audits
- Maintain comprehensive clinical records, reports, and statistics
- Prepare regular reports for management and regulatory agencies as required
- Oversee processes for drug testing protocol
- Perform EMR audits of notes within 24 hours of treatment sessions to ensure timely weekly billing of sessions
- Collaborate with The Haven Operations team on treatment scheduling to ensure maximum attendance and program efficiencies
- Assist in the development and management of the clinical department's budget, ensuring efficient utilization and resource allocation
Compliance
- Consistently maintain professional standards regarding client rights and demonstrate adherence to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 and all local, State and Federal laws and ethical guidelines
- Ensure that clinical processes, procedures and protocols are in alignment with compliance standards, including DHCS and TJC
Outreach
- Network with other behavioral health professionals to build referral relationships and leverage best practices
- Represent The Haven at university events
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling or Social Work. Licensed in the state of California as a Ph.D., PsyD, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC with at least five years experience post license
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical leadership experience in an addiction treatment or behavioral health setting and five or more years in behavioral health treatment setting working with young adults
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for addiction, mental health and co-occurring disorders, including CBT, DBT and MI, as well as 12-step and other recovery programs
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Strong experience with assessment, treatment planning and discharge planning
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Understanding of professional standards regarding client rights, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, as well as relevant local, State and Federal laws and ethical guidelines
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and client documentation
- Knowledge of treatment and referral community in California
- Understanding of ICD-10 and DSM V
Position Details
- Compensation: $115,000-$130,000 annualized salary per year
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, with occasional after-hours work as needed to support clinical staff
- Healthcare stipend provided
- Paid PTO/Vacation
- Status: Full-time, Exempt
