At The Haven's PHP center, we specialize in the treatment of young adults suffering from a variety of behavioral and mental health conditions. At our treatment center in Los Angeles, we offer intensive day-treatment five days per week for chronic mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and more - all geared toward the unique challenges young people face in California.

Substance Abuse PHP Day Treatment

College students challenged by alcohol and drug use can overcome their difficulties with the help of The Haven’s Substance Abuse PHP. Designed in partnership with universities, students, and leading addiction experts, our in-person PHP helps young people identiify and treat the root cause of addiction or substance misuse. At The Haven, young adults suffering from a Substance Use Disorder can join a community of peers also pursuing recovery!

What is PHP Like at The Haven Los Angeles?

PHP is the highest level of care at The Haven, which you may also hear referred to as "day treatment."

PHP is best described as a hybrid between residential treatment and outpatient treatment. Instead of sleeping at the facility like you would in an inpatient treatment center, clients either go home or stay at a sober home or transitional living home while they attend PHP.

Once a client has successfully completed their treatment plan, they can step down to outpatient treatment at The Haven, which is customized to include fewer individual and group sessions to help solidify client's progress and recovery - while allowing them to re-engage with their normal day-to-day lives, whether that's work or school.

Holistic Group Sessions

The Haven's group sessions utilize a mixture of evidence-based treatment, skills-based groups, and experiential activities that support innovative ways to promote mental health, such as creative writing, art therapy, and more.

Daily Engagement

PHP is 5 days a week (Monday-Friday), and 6 hours per day (10-4:30). Clients engage in groups, vocational support, individual counseling, education, psychiatric appointments, and holistic therapies.

Personalized Therapy

Clients will have therapy sessions to focus on their unique mental health conditions utilizing DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and other modalities. Our program also takes special notice to issues unique to young people, such as relationships, school, and family dynamics.

Peer Support

Clients engage with their peers and foster peer relationships with other young adults in various stages of recovery. This helps build a lasting support network for clients when they move on from our care.

Safe Environment

Group sizes are capped at ten clients to ensure a sense of emotional safety, confidentiality, group integrity, and shared engagement. We find our clients also find comfort in the fact that their peers are in a similar age group facing similar difficulties.

Comprehensive Care

PHP is an intensive treatment program. Clients receive psychiatric support and medication management (if applicable), intensive clinical therapeutic support, as well as aftercare planning to ensure the best chance of success post-treatment.
